In a broad sense, it is unnecessary, but as we indicated, there is an advantage in having the specificity for this application stated in prayer form. We would say the ideal is to do both prayers so there is one for the specific purpose of donating human intention for the cause as well as a general prayer for both giving and receiving so the person has the benefit of divine watch and oversight as well as the incentive and openness to being encouraged to further see to the healing of others—both have a place and are of value.
