DWQA QuestionsCategory: Healing ModalitiesWill some virus strains causing dementia respond better to one drug more than the other (ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine)? Is there an advantage in taking both together, and would that be safe? Or would it be better to try one for a period of time and then switch to the other if there is no apparent symptomatic relief?

It is true that some patients would benefit more from one agent than the other, so we would encourage exploring concomitant use of both drugs together to assess overall safety profiles and increase the level of efficacy that is achievable. The two will work quite well together in having somewhat different modes of action and other chemical properties, and that will work to an advantage for the patient to get the most out of the treatment. It will also save time versus taking the drugs sequentially, particularly if it is through simultaneous use that a truly meaningful benefit is achieved. In such cases, using either drug alone might not be enough to stem the tide and will not only represent failure but a missed opportunity that is tragic.
