DWQA QuestionsCategory: PrayerWhat types of prayers may be inappropriate or unlikely to be acted on?

Any prayer desiring a negative outcome for anyone will not be acted on by the divine realm. Worsening something is not divine and is not an answer. The desire for revenge or even to restore something by taking it away from another begins a kind of slippery slope adventure that can go badly. So we recommend requesting help and not retribution through any prayers seeking harm to others, even mortal enemies who are a threat to your existence. It is simply non-divine to pray for destruction. The divine answer would be to change their hearts, to open them to love so they no longer need to be oppressors or a threat. This solves the problem quite nicely and will rescue them in the bargain. This is a win for all involved because it brightens the world. Getting a perpetrator out of your neighborhood is a short-term solution, but simply shifts the problem elsewhere. And as all are in this together, there will be repercussions felt down the line for everyone else until the problem is truly solved. Prayers requested out of greed or an ego need to be elevated in some way above others, will also not be honored because it is simply not highest and best to empower people to pamper themselves in this way and create a distortion, a rewarded distortion of thinking, that in the end will separate them and isolate them from fellow humans. This is the price of ego gratification—in elevating oneself it creates a separation. There will always be consequences and it is lonely at the top, as the saying goes, for this reason. So the divine realm will simply not add to human folly by acting on ill-considered wishes. There are also, at times, problems when prayer is done for negative reasons of great fear and doubt. This gets into the area of beliefs, but all may find their beliefs being challenged when times are in crisis and people are pushed to extremes they never have experienced. This can truly be a test of faith and some may buckle under the strain and give in to their fears. Being in a state of extreme fear is not the best time to launch a prayer request, so we are not saying to not do so, only that if one desires safety, the best advice is to make prayer requests for safety often and especially at times of calm and inner strength because those prayers may carry the day when one is weakened through fear. And then a rescue can be undertaken on the strength of the prior prayer requests, even if the person in the moment is reduced to a quivering mass of nerves and cannot stand strong. Cultivating a view of Creator as a partner makes good sense with regard to all of these issues of self-worth and inner strength. When people are trained to be humbled in God’s presence, this is a disempowerment that will spill over into many areas of their life and will influence the power of their prayer requests accordingly. If they are done meekly and hesitantly as a supplicant, the level of intention behind the prayer will be low and the divine realm can only respond in equal measure, and the prayer will be less effective as a consequence. This, in effect, has been predecided by the person making the prayer request. They have already assigned the ranking and value of their own prayer request to be low and the divine realm must follow their lead. The wisdom of partnering with the Divine is to cultivate self-empowerment by feeling more of an equal. You are not the equal of Creator nor will you ever be, but you certainly are worthy of divine attention and support and are worthy of seeing Creator as a friend and partner in life. We do not have to be equal to share love and companionship. This is certainly true of parent and child. They are far from being equal in many tangible respects but still love one another and are bonded together quite strongly and help one another in many ways despite their differing capabilities. It is because they are working in harmony and have a mutual interest. This can be true for you and Creator working together. It is your choice. We will always say yes.
