We would say that fully 5% are chronically in the range of narcissistic behavior as a personality characteristic those around them would readily agreed to. There are larger percentages who have their moments of emotional loss of control and may indulge in extremely selfish conduct for a time, but not as a habit where it occurs with great frequency and usually with little apology in the case of the narcissist. And, of course, with the more severe level of disconnection by those who are a sociopath or a psychopath, feeling guilt wanes to a fare-thee-well, making those individuals in effect a dangerous self-serving predator because there is no love to work with to keep them in check, through self-control and knowing there are alternative ways of being that can be rewarding. If they are unable to feel it, they cannot relate to it or use it as a strategy, as done by normal people. We would say that roughly 2% of the population are functional sociopaths, and 1% of the population qualify as psychopaths, the most extreme disconnection through being devoid of conscience, and loveless entirely.
