What is going on with my new client? Is she being targeted? Are her impressions correct that she is being manipulated by her companion she is drawn to, helplessly? Who or what is behind this?

Her perceptions are largely accurate that she is endangered by someone who is unusual and has a certain kind of power. She is not being targeted per se, it is her companion who is targeted and has become an agent provocateur used by the Extraterrestrial Alliance for many assignments to wreak havoc wherever he goes. This will include interpersonal relationships as well. They are used as disposable objects of pleasure that he will exploit, and discard just as readily, because he is not genuine given his inability to feel love, which is stunted and suppressed by all the manipulations of him. So this relationship will be shallow and unrewarding and keep her in danger as long as she is around him. A session with the Lightworker Healing Protocol is in order for the both of them and that will at least get divine help going in a concerted fashion, although with no guarantees of making quick progress. Her inability to exercise her free will is directly in the way of any kind of rapid resolution here, so it will take time to work from behind the scenes to strengthen her. In the meantime, it is amply justified here to doing an outreach on her behalf. There is no need for sharing the information we have imparted to you unless she inquires about the nature of this person. Anything of a negative nature she knows will put her at risk and will almost certainly cause a serious backlash, so it is best to keep her at arm's length. You can be just as much help to her by doing sessions on a regular basis on her behalf without promoting a continued association. She will not fully understand the dynamics of what is going on or be able to extricate herself through her own doing. Much healing needs to be in place for any true change to happen. She already knows this person is dangerous and it is not in her best interest to associate with him. So giving her some words of encouragement and telling her you will do some free healing work that will be ongoing to help her extricate herself from her dilemma, will put things in perspective for her to know she must do something at her end for things to change. It is at tough situation, but this is a consequence of the legacy of depravity being in the midst of humanity for so many thousands of years now.
