This is a part of how she did her work and is not germane to you in your current life and knowledge base as you are not trying to follow in her footsteps were that even possible. She was wanting you to believe in her awarenesses by showing you that she was tapped in and had a planful means of obtaining deep knowledge and information about current potentials as well as past and future. This can have many blessings if the knowledge and information are used wisely and interpreted correctly as to potential meanings and that is the case here, that she simply was being dutiful and being conscious of her interrelationship with you, and her son was simply looking out for your welfare in a way she thought was appropriate and was not intending to alarm you or add to burdens. This can happen unwittingly by a well-meaning psychic wanting to use their skills and awarenesses to inform others of what they are able to discern. For some it can be a source of help. For others it may become a burden if it hangs over them like a black cloud. This was not her intention certainly, so you can see her designation of the son as a protector as being a friendly gesture and outreach because of her soul connection to you and was a loving gesture. You can simply take her description and recommendation at face value without worrying about a potential catastrophe with the son being your only lifeline. It is always good to have a friend who understands you and willing to help in some way, and that is the case here, so it is a good thing and need not be a source of concern or engender feelings of obligation either.
