This was an act of desperation and not fully rational as would be more typical. The Anunnaki will typically exhibit shrewdness and cunning in their behavior. They are planful and they are sophisticated in their understanding of human and in the actions they take, particularly with respect to any interaction or possible interaction with living humans who would see them as threatening because of their unusual appearance. So this was a brazen and reckless act and this was due to the relative low level functioning of this Anunnaki and his particular plight in being alone and having a lack of resources needed for his own survival. These circumstances interfered with his judgment and led to his downfall.
