DWQA QuestionsCategory: Divinely Inspired MessengersSaint Faustina was one of the most risk-averse people anyone can study in detail. There is almost nothing in her life that she did of her own initiative. In fact, she was of the opinion that having ANY initiative of her own was evidence of moral and spiritual failings. She actually believed her lack of initiative was a VIRTUE and celebrated it as such throughout her writings. Saint Faustina wrote in her diary, “I feel I am wholly God’s property, I experience this in a way that can be physically sensed. I am completely at peace about everything, because I know it is the Spouse’s business to look after me. I have forgotten about myself completely.” She further wrote, “I must refer everything to God and, in my own eyes, recognize myself for what I am: utter misery and nothingness.” Also, “O my Jesus, keep me near to You! See how weak I am! I cannot go a step forward by myself; so You, Jesus, must stand by me constantly like a mother by a helpless child – and even more so.” What is Creator’s perspective?

We see all that you quote as her making a very strong-willed choice to be stuck in place all on her own, and perhaps having Jesus as a loving witness to her inertia and a resignation to her state of self-imposed helplessness, but not invited to actually help her take any action in particular. Nothing could be a more precise and explicit description of self-disempowerment than what you quoted. This is not what Jesus wants, nor what we want for any human being. You were created as beings of action, a force for higher good, a solver of problems, a warrior for the light, none of which can happen if you shrivel into nothingness, through personal choice, in an attempt to disappear as though that is somehow serving the divine. Her perception and feelings and choices in how to respond were all from inner corruption. She, like most people, was harboring dark spirit meddlers attached to her energetically and able to interact with her deep subconscious mind and carry out a campaign of diminishment, of torment, reminding her again and again and again of her worthlessness, and reinforcing every self-judgment and every doubt she had about her worthiness to be in the presence of the divine and to be a force in the world. Here again, the divine is helpless to intervene because people have the personal choice to experience life in the physical, come what may, even if that involves a painful or even mutilating accident with loss of function of the body, or a chronic illness making them an invalid, or corruption from would-be friends who, through their influence, drag a person down to their level and encourage wrongdoing when times are desperate. It is also true, that everyone may become vulnerable to spirit possession, as happens for the majority of beings in the physical. The power possessing spirits have over their host will vary greatly, but they love working against the light and want to drag down spiritual people. This is done most effectively by creating and reinforcing self-doubt about belief in the divine and especially self-worth. If belief in the divine cannot be eroded, it is almost always the case that a campaign of torment will produce suffering, and then an erosion of confidence in the self from the ensuing state of anxiety that is created, and that campaign of inner terror will take a toll. This is how many become sidelined and lose their ability to advance in life towards their goals.
