We see the value in anyone in need receiving whatever source of benefit might be available as long as there is no harm to others, but it is often the case that this comes with a greater downside in terms of the aggregate of those involved and influenced by policy changes to make exceptions for the rare individual needing special care and treatment. That is the case here, that such a broad mandate will allow many abuses by well-meaning but quite ignorant parents assuming cannabis is harmless, and if it benefits their children they are all for seeing them have it in the same way they will use cannabis themselves chronically with no thought about the toll it might be taking on their lives in terms of productivity or other benefits than feeling good in the moment.
