This is a good analogy because the need here is to make explicit a human desire and to create a specific intention for what you would like to see happen. What you wish to see happen may be different from what we believe to be most useful for you. We might well be content to let you continue experiencing the karmic lesson of difficulty and struggle, knowing it will serve you in toughening you up and strengthening your character, but at the risk of exhausting you and causing you to suffer more than necessary. It is not we do not appreciate what you are going through, it is simply we have different criteria and a longer view and perspective of things.
We see where you are going and that you will get there and we are eager for that to happen, and so naturally somewhat less likely to weigh you down too greatly with time. If nothing much is happening it might not be a time of suffering, but that delay in things will matter and will be another kind of penalty. So what is important to understand here is that even though we see everything that is happening, we have our own perspective and moreover have the constraint that we cannot act arbitrarily and unilaterally to step in and do something we might like. We never enjoy anyone’s suffering and would rather bring relief to them, but we also know it will not serve them to be excessively protective because then few lessons will be learned, growth cannot happen, and inner strengthening from learning to handle adversity will not be taking place at the same rate and to the same degree as needed to get the most from your experience.
By launching a prayer with a clear intention, you are essentially making a specific actionable request. In many cases at least, the divine realm can understand and follow provided there is not an overriding consideration that a karmic lesson is underway that must be allowed to play out for a longer period of time. This does happen such that suffering must be allowed to continue for a time so the rebalancing of a karmic event is accomplished, but many times the divine can help to lighten your load, to give you assistance, an energetic boost, and maybe even to some extent good fortune to offset losses if this is requested to happen and is in alignment with your soul’s purpose and the goals of your lifetime.
Without your request, we must leave you alone. It is possible you will fail utterly to make any progress in the current life, in which case it will have been largely wasted as a lost opportunity, but we must let such things happen if the person in charge of themselves fails to do anything useful to move forward in some way and remains stagnant or even falls backward by embracing negativity and undermining themselves to cause a worsening of things so, in effect, they lose ground and end up wounded and deprived. So the karmic wounds that result will require healing and may well take another lifetime to undo the harm done with the current life of difficulty, struggle, and failure. Without a clear request for assistance and ideally with instructions about specifics, we may have to stand by passively and watch it happen. We simply cannot act on our own even though we feel tremendous compassion for the sufferer.
