This is true as well, and as the adrenals come under attack there will be dramatic consequences for physiologic functioning. This is a good example of an organ that is in a central role to govern many bodily responses and especially those involving the emotional life of the individual—the stress response whether physical, mental, or emotional. So it becomes quite complex in the orchestration of consequences to any perturbation of adrenal functioning, and with so many stimuli affecting these glands, there are many possible interpretations that have given rise to the faulty understanding of what is actually taking place when there are clear abnormal changes in stress hormone production. This, too, needs to be sorted out more systematically and carefully to find the true culprits creating the vulnerability to dysregulation that becomes chronic.
