This is, as you expect, that a chemical extraction that will allow concentrating the extracted chemicals will be superior to bulk plant material simply ground up and ingested in powder form. The beneficial medicinal properties coming from the phytonutrients will be more concentrated in the extraction process and thus much more likely to have beneficial effects and conversely, a crude ground-up plant powder would be less likely to produce a medicinal benefit.
