This abnormality is entirely virus caused. The differentiation from atherosclerosis is solely due to the nature of the particular virus and the kind of immune response it induces. There are some differences in human vulnerability that predispose to one way or another of handling such insults, so there are a multitude of factors in this type of pathology but the primary cause is viral, and this is truly 100% of cases.
