I have been having thoughts about human vulnerability, being so dependent on the electrical grid for all commerce and communication and knowing the Extraterrestrial Alliance could shut it down. Is it a good idea to have survival food on hand for such an eventuality or is this just an unnecessary fear?

This is not a concern at this time but may become so in the future. This is a judgment call about where and when the level of concern reaches that threshold. You are not there at present. If you were in an area of the country more directly in harm’s way from natural disasters, that might be different. But such is not the case for you personally, at this time. Down the road, if there are dire consequences for humanity in the offing, the availability of food may be the least of your concerns, so you will know in advance if that possibility becomes imminent and can take action as appropriate in response to the gathering threat if it develops into a likelihood that will happen soon. You are not there at the present time.
