We would say that approximately 10% of the time people are reconnected with a former pet either from the current life experience or from a previous life encounter. This is somewhat less than is the case for human because more people are looking for human companionship in a mate than for companion animals. The stakes are also not as high in terms of the issue of compatibility. Human partners have an important role in contributing to the health and well-being of their mate in many, many, respects because of the complexities and burdens and stresses of life that you must face together, both to maintain a marriage as well as often rearing of children and dealing with the extended family in those relationships as well, as there are shared duties for both partners that make many demands. So the issue of compatibility is critical and is greatly facilitated when there is a deep soul connection to begin with, by bringing together people who have past history and a long-standing commitment to one another and a deep soul level that is ideal in dealing with the slings and arrows of human physical existence.
Choosing a pet is less critical because all companion animals have been designed to be bringers of love to humans and will adapt quite readily to most humans who want to be with them, and will bond accordingly and give their all in service to their master. This is simply the soul purpose on display that has been designed for them to contribute. They are like angelic beings in that regard, capable of great love and selfless devotion to help their human, even above themselves and their own welfare many times. They are less discriminating and demanding than humans about who they end up with, as long as they are treated humanely. So most any companion animal will be a blessing when people make a selection and take the pet home and develop a relationship.
