Seeking out a place that is hallowed and experienced with reverence, like a cathedral or a church, or a holy place from history, can always be uplifting for the believer because it is a validation and an opportunity to become uplifted by aligning their intentions with the divine. Taking the trouble to have such an experience means they will put some energy into the time they spend, and will be more likely to be touched by the divine as a consequence than would be the case just reading about such a special place, and having it in their thoughts for a few moments, but then moving on as something else distracts them. It is the difference between hearing about the divine and experiencing it within, so we would never discourage anyone from making a pilgrimage of any kind if they desire this experience and seek a benefit. All sincere inquiries will be answered in whatever way is possible for each person. What we would like to add is that enlightenment is much more than simply feeling a holy presence within and being moved by the experience. While that will help you be more in divine alignment for a time and is all well and good, that alone will not create a state of enlightenment. What is essential is to fully heal all those inner woundings, from all of time, which have not healed fully and will always have an influence in dragging a person down. This is why enlightenment is, first and foremost, a healing journey and not simply an experience of spiritual reverie and contemplation.
