This perspective is very much a human one resulting from a state of disconnection from the divine, to not see the possibility of something much greater, much grander, much more delightful and joyous that can be reached and experienced, even as a way of life. The spectrum given in your question is a bleak one indeed, for the cycle between distress and boredom is only the bottom half of the scale of possibilities going from bad to its absence but not yet something good taking place to raise the person further, for indeed there are many, many experiences and emotions far beyond boredom in bringing satisfaction to invigorate and uplift. This is something useful to consider when one is bored; that, too, is a form of suffering and it is a message to you, "You are not serving your soul. Your soul is yearning for something more that you are not providing. You are being constrained in some way through a lack of ideas, a lack of creativity, a lack of inner connection with something greater." It is always there for you in us, if you but reach out; we will always hear you and will answer in a way you can get the message. It may only be through the passage of time and noticing things improving, but that is worth working towards and can be a project that will be enriching and exciting, and never boring.
