We agree with Dr. Atlas on this issue, and this has been borne out and seen by many, many others in hindsight to be a true and accurate perspective, that the elderly were at greatest risk due to the high mortality in the aged, such that it was justifiable to apply restrictive measures, for example, limiting visitors to eldercare facilities and, at a minimum, requiring masks, gowns, and gloves, for example. That has a dual benefit. Whether or not it is fully effective in preventing spread from someone who is highly infectious at the moment, it reinforces for all present there is a danger, and that limits visits and limits visit length and discourages direct contact and exchange of bodily fluids, all of which present a risk to the vulnerable. So the message sent to the public, to keep your older relatives safe through limiting social contact, and especially avoid presence of anyone with symptoms, is logical and deserving of the highest priority, including lockdown of facilities housing numbers of such vulnerable individuals, but not the entire country and certainly not the schools.
