Fauci criticized Dr. Scott Atlas, a Stanford professor advising the Trump administration, for stating the current public health measures were overkill and recommending the following: 1. “Schools should be fully reopened because COVID was not a serious threat to children and they did not transmit the virus efficiently even if they got infected.” What is Creator’s perspective?

Here we side with Dr. Atlas based on our knowledge that it would be older adults, particularly the elderly, who would be most vulnerable but not young children, and that proved to be the case, nor were they able to transmit the virus, not getting infected, and thus be viremic so they would be shedding the virus into the environment. Very, very few children became seriously ill with COVID-19. Locking down the schools was quite harmful to learning and the deficit this created is still echoing and will be a liability for years yet.
