We certainly take this position because we hew to divine principle—to do no harm to others that is avoidable. This is part of the Hippocratic oath for physicians after all, and it is there because it is a divine principle that applies across the board to human conduct, that one is at fault and will have a karmic consequence if they, in fact, do harm to others under any circumstance, wittingly or unwittingly, so all have responsibility in all that they undertake in life—all their actions and the consequences therefrom will have a consequence for the person, good, bad or indifferent. So in this case, with the potential for causing serious harm, we would simply rule out use of this altogether, except under the most extreme of life-threatening circumstances.
