DWQA QuestionsCategory: Extraterrestrial InterlopersCan gingivitis be due to chronic viral infection? If so, in what percent of cases?
Nicola Staff asked 2 months ago
The dental community would be shocked to learn that approximately 80% of the time, individuals with severe and persistent gingivitis have a chronic viral infection underway, and that is the reason for the difficulty in staying ahead of this destructive condition with conventional antimicrobial adjuncts as they work well on bacteria but make poor antivirals. There needs to be an effective antiviral regimen utilized by the victims of this disorder and, given the percentage likelihood of benefitting, it is well worth doing.
