It works against hazards that are coming at you unilaterally. When you reach out to someone or set the intention to do so, this will bypass that particular safeguard because you are choosing to pierce the veil, so to speak, and this must then be allowed by the divine realm. So you cannot expect the divine realm to save you from yourself. Every choice you make will have a consequence and it cannot be overridden by the divine. They can protect you from outside attack but cannot keep you from dropping your guard. Engaging with someone who is corrupted is always taking a chance—that is simply the way things are. If you choose to do so, you will be on your own.
