In actuality, the fall from grace occurred prior to the advent of the Anunnaki civilization, so they were put into place to deal with this problem of evil as the first attempt to right the ship, so to speak, from the rise of evil. They were able to become advanced because the liabilities were more ones of emotional disarray and liability, so there was a loss of personal effectiveness and the taking of a toll on others as the Anunnaki citizens became less and less able to experience love in any form, or compassion, and gradually became more and more heartless and cruel as they were cut off increasingly from their higher selves. They enjoyed relative safety because there were not extraterrestrial predators in their vicinity who could exploit their weakened condition, so they were able to attain greatly advanced technological prowess, but it has not helped them at all with their immorality and their disconnection from the divine, but has strengthened their reach and ability to influence other neighboring civilizations, and thus become a predator and a significant danger to other worlds. This has been borne out over billions of years now where they have preyed on and devastated many worlds. They, in fact, annihilated humanity once already millions of years ago and, with humanity restarted, the Anunnaki have found you and are once again wanting to finish their handiwork.
