Your perspective is an accurate assessment here, that the squat position is the natural posture that will help promote the onset and steady progress of labor and delivery. It should be obvious, beyond intuitive sensing, that to have gravity working in your favor will likely be advantageous. That is part of the benefit here in providing a natural stimulus to the progression of alignment of the baby. There can be complications with any approach and sometimes a different strategy is indicated. But, in general, using a natural squat position will be advantageous in the majority of cases. Much about medicine has been corrupted and even to the extent the exact opposite of what is best will end up being the medical recommendation. The interlopers have corrupted the birthing process genetically as well and their modifications have made it excruciatingly painful for a majority of women. So the same is true of managing the birth process, the old‑school approach was not highest and best but a corruption to add to the potential difficulty. After all, when birthing an infant is painful to begin with, anything that extends the time needed for labor and delivery becomes a form of torture.
