The site states there is a danger of becoming overwhelmed with these emotions, and calls this “empathy overload.” There is the condition of being an “empath,” people who feel the emotions of people around them to such an extent that they have difficulty shutting them out, or dealing with them effectively. Many such people end up isolating themselves in order to avoid this kind of experience. Christ appeared to have been an “empath,” but with a sense of control and balance that eludes others with this ability. Can Creator share with us the Divine strategy for achieving such mastery?”

In a sense, the issue of the empath is an issue of control. In one respect it is an oversensitivity. The empath suffers from having, in a sense, a huge antenna. They cannot avoid picking up the signals from their environment and tuning into anything that comes to their attention. It is somewhat akin to being drawn to something on a stove and having to pick it up to see if it is hot. This is a risky and sometimes dangerous thing to do but the empaths cannot help themselves. They will send their sensors out and bring back whatever is detected to be experienced within themselves and they will take on the vibration whether good, bad, or ugly as a way of experiencing it. This is often a kind of curse because it makes such people so vulnerable to everything going on around them and it is hard to stay happy and enjoy life when one is being bombarded by everyone’s problems. It can indeed become overwhelming for many and be a major disruption in their lives. The mastery you speak of is the ability to deploy the sensing in a purposeful way to tune in to what one wishes to see and not be a passive receiver of anything and everything. Jesus Christ dealt with many troubled individuals and many difficult people who harbored ill will and suspicion. He was unflappable because he focused on their inner light, not the discord they were feeling emotionally and wrestling with in their thoughts. He looked beyond that to their spiritual essence and recognized them as a fellow member of the divine human community and responded to their true essence rather than the lower order of emotion and conflict going on in their thinking. This he was able to do because of his divine alignment. This is what is meant by "enlightenment," it is a coming together, a merging with the divine wavelength so one is truly functioning with a high vibration and responding to the lofty frequencies of love. When in that mode, you become impervious to attack. Nothing can push you out of alignment. You will be calm, you will be purposeful, you will be content and confident in your command of the situation because it is a state of perfection. This is why exhibiting empathy is often problematical. It may result in a lowering of vibration personally and become a problem rather than a solution. One needs to have sympathy for others and exhibit compassion, if at all possible, to be of assistance in some way to convey loving kindness to them to help raise them up once again. That is a divine response and action in the presence of someone who is in turmoil and who is suffering from being out of alignment.
