The best way to seek happiness and contentment when others are struggling is to do something to assist them. Much of such struggle is the feeling of helplessness and hopelessness when one stands idly by while witnessing the unfolding tragedy and the suffering going on in their world, but feel there is nothing meaningful one can do, being a single person when so many are suffering. This is a common reaction and is very much one that has been reinforced relentlessly by the interlopers through subconscious programming to tell people that "Humans are going to suffer. There’s nothing you can do as a single person, and you need to reward yourself and do all you can to enjoy life and let others care for themselves—that it is not your responsibility." All of this is propaganda and all of it is non-divine.
In actuality, you are a member of a human family and one that is very close-knit, being that you are all interdependent on one another. When one suffers, all will suffer in some way to some degree. If not presently, then eventually as the pain circles around and is shared one by one, and it will eventually reach everyone. This can be a positive motivation if it inspires people to raise their hearts and minds in prayer to the divine for assisting the suffering, and the perpetrators bringing the suffering about, first and foremost. Not because they rank higher or are in a special privileged status, but because they are the worst and those in greatest need, and also because the future of those they subjugate depends on this. It is simple prioritization to remove the greatest threat first so there is breathing room to do a more widespread and comprehensive healing effort to correct and undo the pain of the past causing such a horrible karmic legacy of tragedy to repeat again and again. This is something everyone can do, so we are not saying to give away your possessions, sacrifice yourself so you end up suffering and homeless and living a life of lack when you otherwise can get along just fine. There is nothing wrong with getting along just fine in the world even when others are in dire straits. You are needed to remain functioning to be of service to others in a higher way by being their advocate, by launching the prayers that will bring the only possible rescue—that is a divine act and will only happen when enough humans make the entreaty.
You have a most important role to play, so you need not feel guilt or uncomfortable with the knowledge many are suffering if you are not. You are blessed and that is a tribute to your divine connection and standing, that karma has not overtaken you so dramatically and forcefully that you are incapacitated. That is a testament to your soul journey and is something to take pride in and not be a source of guilt, but it also speaks to the wisdom in using that higher status and capability to help your brethren, and this you can do, not to incur suffering by transferring things to others you may need for your own life, but to be their advocate with an outreach to the divine to raise everyone up. That is more important than the temporary benefit you could give, even if you gave everything away you own and decided to end your life, simply to not be taking up space and resources that others could use. That small benefit would soon be exhausted and the loss of you as an advocate would be felt for all of time. That is the power you hold in what you can do with your mind alone when primed by your heart to take action on behalf of the human community as a whole. You can be a change agent for the universe for all of time through what you do here now, even in your own small way, it is a bigger vote than you think, you will be casting for human survival.
