This profile of responsiveness does exist but is based on the more prosaic correlation with the stress response hampering the immune system, so the greater the stress within a person, the more vulnerable they become due to the inhibiting effect on their immune system of the stress hormone production. Beyond that, the virus has no higher intelligence or aspects that could be an influence on the emotions or thoughts of an individual and ramp up the pressures and liabilities. This will happen inevitably when the public is highly sensitized with fear of becoming infected in the midst of an epidemic and will take the first sign of infection to heart and will likely have a huge stress reaction because of the intense fear it will begin to engender in people. So there will be an amplified stress liability by virtue of the reputation, but that will be cultivated by the scientific community revealing the dire profile this organism represents in terms of its dangers and the mass media ramping up fear.
