Tinnitus can have a variety of causes. In some cases, it is related to spirit possession impinging on nerves in just the right way to cause that perception. It is more likely to be karmic in nature and a consequence of inner discord that happens to hit that area of the sensory apparatus because of its delicate nature and sensitivity to perturbations. This will not likely be something coming from spirit guides or the higher self. It is more likely to be an energetic imbalance or a manipulation of some kind from another consciousness that is not of a divine nature.
