This is true for them as well. All advanced extraterrestrial civilizations in the physical plane have devolved, in effect, by worshiping and honoring their technologies at the expense of becoming disempowered personally. Whether AI is in charge or an authoritarian regime run by a dictator or a group of elites wanting power over others, this is the danger, always, in surrendering authority to an idea, a political ideology, or a religious foundation that might have become corrupted. Your world is but getting a small taste of the ethics and potential dangers that must be considered when entrusting AI to have greater influence, let alone authority, over human affairs. This is a slippery slope always. Thus far it has uniformly led to a worsening of things. The rules of AI perceptions and functioning will always arise from their creators and what they most value because those become the fundamental foundation and programming. So any creative work done by the AI, based on that foundation, will reflect the perspectives and the prejudices of their originators and will have the same blind spots as well. We can tell you, from actual experience over the eons, that technology will not evolve to create divinity but more the opposite, that technology will devolve from divinity to create madness from a soulless existence.
