The wolf in sheep’s clothing implies the presence and manipulation of the “evil genius,” difficult to not only spot, but just as difficult, if not more so, to warn the fellow sheep about the wolf in their midst, leading them astray. If one only takes things at face value, they will never see beyond the costume and discern the wolf inside. So it seems the Vulcan pursuit of emotional control was an attempt to gain mastery of the very features of the self that the interlopers take full advantage of in humans, essentially depriving the interlopers of this influence over the individual. How much does mastery of one’s emotional nature and passions, and the ability to successfully cope with and neutralize traumas, protect or even make one immune to mind control manipulation?
