Milarepa was different from Christ in that he was not born or even spent most of his life in “light being mode.” But rather, was remarkable because he went from accumulating the karma of killing 35 people as a young adult, to full light being mode (en-LIGHT-enment) in a single lifetime. Many other mendicants throughout history have attained enlightenment, but Milarepa is rare, and perhaps even unique in having traveled from literally one extreme to another in a single human incarnation.
