A client wrote to tell me she decided to give up fighting her ex-husband, as she hasn’t gotten anywhere and the roadblocks are still happening. The final straw was learning she couldn’t afford the individual she had planned to engage for carrying out the court-ordered parental evaluation. Is this a mistake, or will it perhaps be the lesser of evils if she can move on and not be consumed by the relentless struggle created by the custody battle?

An interesting YouTube series from ten years ago was brought to me by a viewer: “Great Depression Cooking with Clara.” At the time Clara was 93 years old. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qptfhu9R0WI Anyhow, during this episode, she related a story from the Depression where she was being treated TERRIBLY by her boss, and during a break, she said to her co-workers “I wish he would get hit by a train!” The next day, HE WAS HIT BY A TRAIN! He was driving to work, and the car was “clipped” by a train. He was uninjured, and the car received relatively minor damage. Was there any connection between her verbally expressed “wish” voiced with genuine anger, and the next day’s incident?
