The essence of free will is the freedom to CHOOSE. Dr. Viktor Frankl said that when all choices have been removed from a person, the one choice remaining that nobody else can dictate is their ability to choose their ATTITUDE. If so, it appears this would be true for both humans and angels, and in fact all sentient beings; and while the choice can be influenced by others, it cannot be MADE by others. Would that extend to the realm of prayer as well? In other words, no matter how much we pray for God to change someone’s attitude, this will remain something God will always refuse to do in a free will environment. So the divine can change things that influence the choice, but not the choice itself. What can Creator tell us?

Dr. Viktor Frankl wrote that in his opinion, it was possible to “lie with the truth.” He cited as an example a man who came to him plagued with guilt about an illicit affair he had some 20 years earlier. His wife never learned of it and was still ignorant of it when he sought Frankl’s advice. Dr. Frankl implored him NOT to tell her. His reason for doing so was because he believed that the man truly loved his wife and had no desire to traumatize her. Based on what he knew of the man’s wife, he was convinced that there was little to no chance of the wife receiving the news without drawing the false conclusion that he did not love her, and consequently would not be able to forgive him. So he attempted to coach the man, that telling her the truth, would be akin to lying, for it would encourage her to believe a lie—that her husband did not ever love her. The man ignored Frankl’s advice, and the result was an ugly divorce with both parties deeply emotionally traumatized. Was Frankl right? What is Creator’s perspective?

Dr. Viktor Frankl wrote: “… a man who belongs to a given nation is obviously neither guilty nor meritorious by that fact alone. His guilt would begin when, for example, he did not cultivate in himself the special talents of the nation, or took no part in national cultural values; while he would be acting meritoriously if he overcame in himself certain characterological weaknesses of the nation by a conscious process of self-examination.” Frankl’s perspective is quite thought provoking when it is understood that some of the most common oaths sworn today are to the nations that people live in. What is Creator’s perspective?

Dr. Viktor Frankl wrote: “Every one of us knows somehow that the content of his life is somehow preserved and saved.” If the taking of an oath is an affirmative deed that becomes recorded for all of time in the akashic records, one can never get away from it completely, and at the very least, the event will always be in the recorded history of the soul. What is Creator’s perspective?
