My eyesight has significantly worsened over the past 3-5 years and I have recently been diagnosed with cataracts that may require surgery in the next year or two at a much younger age than my parents required. My eye doctor told me there are no supplements available that can eliminate cataracts. I am wondering whether cataracts are caused by a viral infection such as, for example, the group of Epstein Barr viruses, etc., or are they caused instead by protein buildup in the lens of the eye caused by high blood sugar as suggested by Dr. Berg and Dr. J. She asks: “I also have other eye issues including concern by my doctor that, at some point, I might experience a detached retina.
