He was speaking metaphorically using materialistic examples because those are things of value to people they can relate to, but truly speaking about spiritual attainment, the evolution of character leading to divine alignment and a purity of soul expression to be at one’s best, and that is the state of being within heaven where all are on God’s wavelength, so to speak, and members of a close-knit community of souls sharing continually with the Almighty all that happens, with knowledge moving in both directions in a sharing and growth that enhances everyone. This is the ultimate in unity and fairness, the equality all among the physical have yearned for through the ages, living as they do in a world of class distinctions, of power hierarchies, being lorded over by tyrants all too frequently, and having many disadvantages and suffering lack of basic necessities at times in ways tantamount to torture. So Christ’s message was giving a preview of what to expect in the future if one strives to be worthy and ready to ascend in a return to heaven. So likening that to having treasures is not an overstatement, but in fact, underrepresenting the contrast between where you are and where we are. So he, indeed, was speaking divine truth about the realities of existence to encourage people to embrace divinity as the surest path to reaching safety and the joys of heaven and, moreover, in that practice can attain heaven on Earth.
