The level of protection, as well as duration, will be markedly less in the elderly, who are the most greatly vulnerable to having a fatal outcome from infection. This is most unfortunate because it is a double jeopardy in terms of the severity of illness for this high risk group, so to have a less than effective protection from vaccination is another blow.
