This is very much the case. In some respects, it is just as bad or worse because there are long‑term destructive effects. The susceptibility to spirit manipulation is just as serious under the influence of marijuana as with alcohol and there can be quite serious behavioral consequences because of the creation of a dependency that will alter the lifestyle and truly the course of a person’s life, especially through undermining motivation, and there can be other negative liabilities such as interfering with memory and various other functions needed for effective job performance. Marijuana use is far from harmless when it becomes chronic, and this will eventually become a major problem that will have to be reckoned with yet again through restrictions. People often are unable to control themselves given access to such materials. This may be a function of their inherent liabilities and great need for emotional relief, self-soothing, and an escape from the harsh realities of their lives for reasons not of their making, but they are nonetheless responsible for their actions and if they choose what feels to be an easy way out that brings greater harm, it will be their karmic liability because it is a consequence of their choices that is inescapable.
