The Battle of Midway was another seemingly miraculous outcome when things looked gloomy and the odds of victory seemed quite remote. But “against all odds” it could be argued that the entire outcome of the war in the Pacific was ultimately decided on that fateful day. Did prayer make a difference in the outcome?

Prayer was a significant factor. It contributed on multiple levels to maintaining an element of surprise, to helping the American Forces perform in an exceptionally skillful fashion with good coordination and tight precision among their forces, and to be particularly effective in seeking out the installations needing to be curbed and countered effectively to tip the balance of power in the area decisively. That was indeed accomplished and was simply helping one side perform with excellence and the other side to be more complacent through a kind of distraction of their own making by simply rendering less effective some of their ardor to be prepared and on high alert. This had to do as well with confusing some of the orders for their forces on maneuvers to be placed in locations that were unfavorable in allowing a counterattack or a rapid defensive rescue for their installations on the island, and this allowed the sea attacks to be especially effective in neutralizing the Japanese power base in the Pacific.
