The most important lesson from the suffering of others is that most suffering becomes unavoidable because the fate of the person is decided by themselves in their life choices. It is built into the way it works energetically. The universe is like a finely tuned clockwork mechanism. It not only knows the time, it knows what everyone is doing and why, and what the consequences might be, and it will seek a rebalancing of anything thrown out of alignment. That will have your name on it, if you did it, and that information will follow you into your future and you will be visited and called upon, energetically, to make a repayment to rebalance things—it is inevitable, it is unstoppable, and it is relentless.
If there is one thought to carry in one’s mind it is: "Do right by others and do right by yourself if you want happiness in the future rather than suffering." There are no shortcuts. There are no ways to gain from the suffering of others. You are only creating a worse fate for yourself because karma will see to it that the suffering you caused by taking something away from another will be greatly magnified in finding its way back to you, and you will have double, triple, even tenfold the degree of suffering you caused, to experience yourself—that is the fate of the perpetrator. It is far, far better to rein in one’s temptation to wrongdoing and follow the rules. You will have happiness and joy to lean on, and that, too, is guaranteed by the Law of Karma and a far better way to live.
