This is an easy trap to fall into. Many times people seeking information have read or heard something and then will ask a question based on the key missing piece of information they most want to know, but it will be quite out of context to someone not knowing the history and the source of the information leading to the question at hand, nor the particular intention behind wanting to obtain the further knowledge and the context for that need, all of which can shape the level of answer that is provided. In effect, this is sort of like expecting someone to determine the answer to a puzzle that is given in code so there are no guidelines, and no starting points and no rules to follow to solve the puzzle because too much is ill-defined. It is like asking a geographical question when there is no map available to refer to. So all these details will be variables and will be a factor in what transpires.
