In Dr. Anthony Fauci’s autobiography, he describes a grilling by Senator Rand Paul as the latter’s misunderstanding that gain of function research on viruses is not the same as “gain of function research of concern,” because only the latter includes potentially dangerous manipulations to increase pathogenicity and transmissibility of infectious viruses. Fauci explained what the U.S. funded in the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) was work on bat viruses that were non-infectious in humans, to simply study their properties. Secondly, he points out that the “molecular makeup of the bat viruses studied at the WIV under the NIAID/EHA grant was genetically so different from SARS-CoV-2 that they could not possibly be the source of SARS-CoV-2.” Is that an accurate description by Fauci and not a minimization or deceptive misstatement of fact?

As you felt intuitively from reading his account, he is not rewriting history here but accurately portraying his testimony, which was rebuffed or ignored, to press the accusation of a kind of malfeasance or neglect on the part of all in Fauci's circle supporting viral research at this Chinese government installation. The depiction of gain of function research was, indeed, misunderstood and his explanations were ignored by his questioners, particularly Rand Paul who was on a mission to find fault and pin blame on Fauci and his collaborators for doing what he believed was reckless endangerment of not only the U.S. but the world, in funding dangerous high-risk viral gain of function that could escape the lab and cause a worldwide deadly pandemic, and, to his mind, this is what took place. This senator's ignoring of Fauci's defense was because of mind control programming to believe at the outset there was a sinister deception and a willful disregard of safety precautions in the actions of the government agencies collaborating with the Wuhan facility. That was programmed to take place to provide a cover story for the work of the Extraterrestrial Alliance, and that is why the issue was pressed with disregard for Fauci's explanation.
